The benefits of LED Tape are many and varied. So, compiling a list like this one wasn’t easy. Nevertheless, with much thought and consideration, we managed to narrow it down and have chosen, in ascending order, what we consider to be the Top 5 Benefits of LED Tape.
5. Cool
We don’t mean “cool” as in, “wow look at those cool lights,” although LED Tape is pretty “cool” in that sense of the word. Rather, we are refering to the fact that LED Tape generates very little heat. This is unlike more traditional forms of lighting. Switch on a traditional halogen bulb and you will notice it gets very hot, very quickly. This is because most of the energy, or watts, it consumes is converted into heat (in fact, you’re probably better of thinking of a halogen as a glorified heater!). As well as being a nuisance, this is also a potential fire hazard. In contrast, LEDs generate very little heat. Even after long hours of use, a strip of LED Tape will remain relatively cool to the touch, making it safe to install anywhere.
4. Colourful
The problem with a lot of older types of lighting is that they are limited in the range of colours they can produce. A halogen or fluorescent bulb create light in a very particular way (by incandescence and fluorescent to be exact), meaning the colour of the light is restricted. LEDs on the otherhand are very good at producing specific wavelengths of light, making them ideal for applications that require colour, such as traffic lights and so forth. This means a single LED can be programmed to produce a whole range of colours.
3. Waterproof
Need to use LED Tape in your kitchen, bathroom or outside? No problem! With the right IP (Ingress Protection) Rating, LED Tape can be used anywhere, even in a swimming pool. We always advise customers to consult a professional electrician when attempting these sort of installations as mixing water and electricity is potentially very dangerous.
2. Cuttable
If we asked you to name a type of lighting that can be cut, I bet you would be hard pressed to name one. That is because LED Tape is pretty much the only type of lighting that can be cut. This makes it uniquely versatile, allowing it to be scaled to the exact requirements of any given installation, whether it be a simple under cabinet installation in the kitchen or a more intricate illuminated-sign. Furthermore, cutting LED Tape requires no expertise; cutting-points are clearly marked all along their length which can be cut with a pair of scissors without risk of damaging the components.
1. Flexible
LED Tape is unrivalled in its versatility. This is largely due to the fact it is flexible. Unlike older forms of lighting which are rigid and therefore limited to installations on flat surfaces, LED Tape can be used on surfaces with a gradient. In fact, LED Tape is so flexible it can be completed bent back on itself without effecting the light output or damaging the tape.
